IT Support Technician

We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated candidate for an IT Support Technician in our NUWC, Middletown, RI site.

Job Description:

Your primary responsibilities will include manning our help desk and assisting end-users with day-to-day Information Technology requirements. You have a strong ability to organize, install, and support the organization's computer systems, including patching, maintenance, application maintenance, printers, laptops, and other system needs of your fellow employees. Occasionally switching hats and working with other teammates to support end-user needs, including network, desktop, and office applications, as well as virtual machine management, will feel more like an opportunity to grow than a roadblock to success.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Setup, configure, maintain and operate service
• Support all end-user-related issues.
• Manage help desk ticketing system
• Assign tickets to appropriate IT support personnel
• Assist IT, System Administrator, with software installs
• Administer, install and troubleshoot Windows operating systems
• Configure software and resolve technical problems.
• Support end-user technology needs, including email printing and application services
• Documentation of policies and procedures as well as end-user guides and training materials
• Provide first-level contact and problem resolution with hardware, software applications, and wireless problems by troubleshooting, recovering, adjusting, modifying, and improving IT systems.
• Experienced use of automated tools to track problem resolution and to perform trend analysis to identify issues.
• Wide knowledge of operating systems, application software, network infrastructure, network protocols, and being familiar with best practices as defined by Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) standards.
• Experience with Microsoft Office products
• Effective written and verbal skills
• Able to take direction as well as the desire to take initiative
• Able to work with hands for minor facility repair/improvement needs
• Familiarity with Office 365 and SharePoint
• Familiarity with NMCI and NET
• Experience in Windows 10 support
• Ability to lift PC, printers, and other hardware as required.

The position is full time and located in Middletown, RI (May require some after-hours work)

Certifications Required: CompTIA A+ CE or higher and Operating Environment certification.

Education Desired: Two-year degree in a technology-related field

Position requires U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance
